Saint Louis doesn’t get the love it deserves.

As a second-generation native St. Louisan, from the very beginning St. Louis was in my blood. Traveling a lot of as a child, I quickly learned that most people outside of the city knew very little about it and the treasures it held – besides the fact that we were home to the Cardinals and that “Big Silver Arch”.

They’re both great, don’t get me wrong – die-hard Cards fan here – but I don’t want those to be the main, positive things we’re known for. I want to see the city grow and prosper, and want others to see the wonderful, fun, creative, vibrant city I see when people mention St. Louis.

There is so much to love about this place besides the Imo’s Pizza (yes, it’s delicious – if you don’t agree try it one more time with an open mind, please?), toasted ravioli and barbeque.

It’s affordable, pretty darn easy to get around, and we still have world-class museums and attractions (most of them are even FREE – take that Chicago, New York and L.A.) while attracting just about every big-name touring artist or event. There’s a budding music and food scene, a diverse and solid number of nightlife options – plus we have the fastest rate of growth for new start-ups and several Fortune 500 businesses to boot.

Sure, we have our fair share of issues too – questions of inequality and access, the City/County reunification debate, and an increase of violent crime in some neighborhoods to name a few –  but what city doesn’t have problems? I won’t shy away from our cities issues, we’ll explore all of St. Louis in time – the bad, the good, the hope, the people that make St. Louis what it is and are driving it forward.

So, come explore St. Louis with me, and let me shine a spotlight on this river city!
